I was going to write about college and it’s effect on my mental and physical health journey. But then I realized I was partially at fault. School was to blame since there is a lot of work involved. However, it is also my fault for not finding the time especially for meditation and especially when my campus had a meditation room lol! Since I had issues keeping up with mental care, I know a lot of you are too. So I’ve compiled a list of tips to help keep you on track!
Self motivation is key

  1. #GOALS
Step aside relationship goals, it’s my mind’s time to shine! Goal setting is super simple and easy to do. Start with some short term goals, whether it’s 5 minutes from now, tomorrow or next month. What do you want to see accomplished? What can you realistically get done right now? Think about it, don’t make it too elaborate, and write it down. Writing down your intentions not only serves as a reminder, but it also helps to set your goal into motion.

Here’s a link to the very goal setting guide that I was given and that helped me a lot!
  2. Now what?

I got my goalssss. Yeah, well now that you have your eyes on the prize…you have to keep looking at your written goals. Every day until it’s completed. Don’t worry about going off track, you still have time to complete them so just keep working at it. We all fall behind sometimes, what matters is that you keep going!
  3. Easier said than done!
Clearly, I mean, I’m still trying to get back on track and I’ve been out of school for awhile now. I get really into something I want accomplished and then I get side tracked. Trust me you’re not alone. Which brings me to this: have an accountability partner. Someone who will help keep you on track. Someone who will be on you and will remind you to get things done.

If you don’t have a person, I found that writing about it on social media can help. I mean what better accountability than people on the internet asking so what happened to that thing you were gonna do? It’s also not all bad. You get to build fan bases for things like art and leave people wanting morrrrre. Plus it helps to get you excited that people are interested in seeing you complete your goal.
  4. But seriously…

There are so many things you can do to take care of yourself, so make sure you choose something you’ll enjoy! Meditation, spa day, mani/pedis, a walk in the park, being mindful, talking to a therapist, going for a run. The list is absolutely endless! Doing things you love makes getting things accomplished much easier. Sometimes you end up not even needing steps 1-3 LOL.
